Note 1: What Is The Difference Between Lace Frontals and Lace Closures?

Lace frontals and lace closures are both very useful in creating beautiful sew in installations. They both serve the same purpose, which is to close off an install. They both eliminate the need for blending. They are both made of either Swiss lace or French lace. But they also have several differences between them some that we will discuss in this blog post.

The most obvious difference between lace frontals and lace closures are the size. Lace frontals are bigger mainly because they run temple to temple to cover the entire hairline. Lace closures are smaller because their primary purpose is to close off an install hence the name closure. Closures typically only cover a horseshoe size portion at the top or front of an install.

Another difference between the two is that lace closures are sewn into place while lace frontals are generally meant to be bonded in place. While both can be placed either in front or behind the hairline, lace frontals are commonly placed in front of the hairline usually because they are bonded. However it is possible for a skilled hair stylist to sew a lace frontal behind the hairline using invisible thread.

The main benefit of choosing a lace frontal is its unmatched styling versatility. Wearing a lace frontal can allow you to achieve a styling option that a closure doesn’t; frontals allow you to wear pulled back hairstyles. Remember closures only cover a small portion of the front of the install making it impossible to pull back the sides without exposing tracks. A lace frontal covers the entire hairline and will allow you to achieve a seamless style that you can pull back off of your face.

Depending on your style of choice, a lace frontal may be more appealing than a closure or vice versa. If you like to pull your hair back then a lace frontal will be best for you. If you simply want to close your install with a natural looking scalp then a lace closure will be the best solution for you. Either way they both will enhance your install by giving it the natural look that we all go for!

Note 2: What Is The Difference Between Lace Front Wigs and Full Lace Wigs?

Lace Front Wigs:  A lace front wig is exactly what it sounds like. This wig has a sheer lace strictly in the front edges of the unit that are cut off just prior to be installed on your head. The lace front wig provides the illusion of a natural hair line. The base of a lace front wig isn’t made of lace, but of a thicker material that is still comfortable/ wearable.

Full Lace Wigs: Full lace wigs have a base that is made fully of lace unlike the lace front wig. This means full lace wigs are a bit more versatile than a lace front wig, because they can be worn in different hair styles. This puts full lace wigs at a higher price point than a lace front wig as well. A full lace wig covers the entire head and must be installed slightly different than a lace front wig that is only attached at the front edges of your head. It is best to wear a wig cap especially when installing a full lace wig, since it will be covering your entire head.
